Oregon Measure 11 Cases
Measure 11 was passed in November of 1994 and sets minimum mandatory sentencing for serious crimes. It’s common in certain states to convict individuals that never end up serving jail time. This is not common in the state of Oregon. We defend clients against felony charges including the following list of offenses and their accompanying minimum sentences:
Murder- 25-year sentence
First Degree Manslaughter-10 years
Second Degree Manslaughter-6 years and 3 months
First Degree Assault-7 years and six months
Second Degree Assault- 5 years and 10 months
First Degree Robbery-7 years and six months
Second Degree Robbery-5 years and 10 months
First Degree Rape-8 years and 4 months
Second Degree Rape-6 years and 3 months
First Degree Kidnapping-7 years and 6 months
Second Degree Kidnapping 5 years and 10 months
First Degree Sodomy-8 years and 4 months
Second Degree Sodomy-6 years and 3 months
First Degree Unlawful Penetration-8 years and 4 months
Second Degree Unlawful Penetration- 6 years and 3 months
First Degree Sexual Abuse-6 years and 3 months
Anyone convicted of a Measure 11 offense isn’t able to receive parole or a reduction of sentence for good behavior while serving their time in prison. It’s important to note that juveniles age 15 or older charged with one of the felonies mentioned above will be tried as an adult. If you’re faced with one of the crimes mentioned above, it is crucial that you retain legal services as quickly as possible.
